After helping lead the Hiram College volleyball program to their best start in program history, Terrier senior captain, setter Holly Hoffman, has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
The Terriers made it a 7-0 start to the season after earning a victory over Adrian College on Tuesday, and a trio of wins over John Carroll University, Capital University and Defiance College at the Case Western Reserve University Invitational. More impressively, however, is that Hiram won all four without dropping a single set, making it 21-straight set wins to open the year.
Thanks to her efforts, Hoffman was selected to the All-Tournament team over the weekend, finishing the three-match stretch with 31.1 assists, 9.3 digs and a pair of aces per match, all while playing in just nine sets.
For the week, Hoffman totaled 125 assists, eight aces, 40 digs and posted a pair of double-doubles. She first tallied a double-double against Adrian, posting 31 assists and 12 digs. She then finished the week with 25 assists, 14 digs and three service aces in a straight-set sweep of Capital.
Hiram remains the only undefeated team in the North Coast Athletic Conference at this current juncture of the season. Hoffman has been a big reason for that as she currently leads the NCAC in service aces (17), ranks second in assists per set (10.19) and ranks 11th in the conference in digs per set (3.38).
The NCAC Player of the Week award is the first in the career of Hoffman, and the first for a Terrier athlete during the 2018-19 season.
Hoffman and the rest of the Terriers will get back to work on Friday and Saturday, September 14 and 15, as they host the Hiram College Invitational in Price Gymnasium.
