Oct. 16- CLEVELAND, Ohio- Hiram freshman Lindsey Walker has been named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week. The versatile underclassman helped the Terriers to a pair of conference victories in their previous two games.
Last week she helped the Terriers to wins over Oberlin (3-2) and Wooster (3-1), adding two more double-doubles to her résumé. In the latest victory over Wooster, Walker came one kill shy of posting her first-career triple-double. She finished the match with a career-high 31 digs, while adding 20 assists and nine kills. Her dig total was the first 30-dig performance since Megan Schaefer tallied 36 against Kenyon College on Oct. 1, 2016.
Combined with her performance against the Yeowomen, Walker totaled 41 assists, 44 digs, 16 kills and a trio of service aces. She hit .394 on the week, which included posting a zero-error performance and hitting .542 against the Fighting Scots.
Walker currently ranks among the conference leaders in assists and service aces. The freshman has totaled 466 assists on the season, averaging 5.97 per set. She also has tallied 35 service aces, earning the number three spot in the conference.
In Walker's short career, she accumulated nine double-doubles in her first season. In her last five matches, she has posted three double-doubles, all of which have come against conference opponents.
Walker and the Terriers will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct.17 at 7:00 p.m. as they travel to Allegheny.
