With the victories, the Terriers improve to 10-2 overall for the season.
In the match against Trine, Hiram jumped out early winning the first set by the score of 25-15. Trine came right back to win the second set, 25-22, to even the match at a set apiece. The Terriers took the advantage posting a win in set three, 25-22, and looked to seal the match going into the fourth set with a 2-1 match lead. Both teams combined to score 68 points in a marathon fourth set, but it would be Hiram who'd come out on top by the final of 35-33 to claim the 3-1 match victory.
Hiram would immediately face Defiance in its next match following the win against Trine and took a commanding lead winning the first two sets by the scores of 25-23. Defiance avoided the straight set sweep by edging the Terriers in the third set, 25-21. Hiram then put the match away in the fourth, 25-12, to go on to back-to-back 3-1 match wins.
Hiram will conclude the two-day event tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 15) with its final two matches of the Marietta Tournament. The Terriers will face Adrian (Mich.) College in their first match of the day at 9:30 a.m., followed by a matchup against host Marietta at 2:30 p.m.
