SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Although four Terriers fired shots in the match, the Hiram College women's soccer team fell to the Wittenberg Tigers on Saturday evening by a 1-0 score.
The Tigers' record improves to 10-3-2 (5-1 NCAC), while the Terriers stand at 3-10-1 (0-6 NCAC).
Both teams went scoreless in the first half. Although the Tigers outshot the Terriers 9-4, a career-best performance by freshman Ally Green kept the score 0-0. Green finished the match with 14 saves.
Wittenberg took a 1-0 when Michelle Brunswick scored in the 66th minute of the match. Leah Soutar was awarded with the assist. Hiram was unfortunately unable to tie the score in the remaining time and the Tigers secured the victory.
Overall, the Tigers outshot the Terriers 22-4 and had a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Hiram will return to play on Wednesday when they host conference rival Oberlin at 7:30 p.m.
