MARIETTA, Ohio -- The Hiram College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest to Marietta by a 2-1 score on Thursday evening.

The Terriers fall to 1-1-1 on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 2-1-0.

Marietta's Kayla Tomlin was the only one to find the back of the net in the first half. Hiram had five corner kicks in the half, but was unable to score with those opportunities.

The Pioneers scored again just after the 50th minute when freshman McKenzie Dorr fired a shot from the top of the six yard box.

Just over three minutes later, senior Abbey Rowe (Mt. Orab, Ohio/ Lynchburg) scored her first goal of the season to cut the Pioneers' lead to one. Senior Emily Syrjala (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) picked up the assist on the score.

Hiram was able to register a corner kick and a shot in the final minutes, but came up empty.

Freshman goalie Ally Green (Stow, Ohio / Stow-Munroe Falls) made eight saves in the first half and junior Alina Mille (Medina, Ohio / Medina) made two.

Hiram will play next on September 10, when they return home for a 6 p.m. matchup against Grove City (Pa.).
