GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Hiram College women's soccer team scored three second half goals en route to a 4-0 road victory over Thiel (Pa.) in the 2016 season opener for both teams.
Senior Allie Glatt (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seton) picked up where she left off last season with two goals. Senior Alison Cowell (Bridgeton, Mo./Duchanse) and senior Katelyn Mauch (Parma, Ohio/Normandy) each added a goal for the Terriers (1-0-0).
Glatt got Hiram on the board 30:27 into the contest, scoring an unassisted goal. The Terriers took the 1-0 lead into the break.
In the second half, Cowell opened the scoring at the 49:39 mark, taking a pass from senior Abbey Rowe (Mt. Orab, Ohio/Lynchburg) and beating the keeper.
Less than five minutes later, Mauch made it 3-0 in favor of Hiram with a unassisted goal.
Glatt would close out the scoring on the night with goal at the 66:51 mark. She now has 28 career goals, which is just five shy of tying the all-time program record.
Freshman goalie Ally Green (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) recorded her first career win in her first career start with a scoreless first 45 minutes. Junior Alina Mille (Medina, Ohio/Medina) made three saves in the second half of action.
The Terriers outshot the Tomcats (0-1-0) 29-7, including a 14-3 edge in shots on goal. Hiram also held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Hiram will be back at it on Sunday, September 4 as they host Case Western in their home opener at 1:30 p.m.
