WOOSTER, OHIO -- The Hiram College women's lacrosse team was defeated by The College of Wooster, 21-1, in a North Coast Athletic Conference game in Wooster.
Wooster (1-5, 1-1 NCAC) began the game with seven straight goals to take a commanding 7-0 lead. Hiram (3-7, 0-2 NCAC) ended the possible shutout with a score at the 17:17 minute mark with an unassisted goal by sophomore JoLyn Grover (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) to narrow the gap to 7-1. But the Fighting Scots ended the first period with a seven goal run to extend the margin to 14-1 at the intermission.
Wooster continued the scoring streak in the second half finding the back of the net six times as the Scots took 14 shots in the final period and went on to the 20-1 final.
Sophomore goalkeeper Rebecca Greenhouse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Winchester Thurston) played all 60 minutes and had 10 saves in 30 shots faced. She is now 3-7 overall for the season with today's loss.
Hiram is scheduled to travel to Gambier for a NCAC matchup against Kenyon College on Wednesday, Apr. 9. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
