OBERLIN, OHIO -- The Hiram College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Oberlin College, 18-0, in a North Coast Athletic Conference game in Oberlin.
Oberlin (4-9, 3-3 NCAC) took control early in the first half scoring its first goal at the 29:33 minute mark to take the 1-0 lead. The Yeowomen went on to add nine more scores in the period to lead 10-0. Hiram (3-10, 0-6 NCAC) recorded three shots in the first 30 minutes, but could not get a shot past the Oberlin netminder, resulting in the 10-goal deficit at the break.
The second half featured more offense by the Yeowomen as Oberlin found the back of the net eight more times and held Hiram scoreless the rest of the way to cruise to the 18-0 shutout.
Hiram freshman goalkeeper Rebecca Greenhouse (Pittsburgh, Pa./Winchester Thurston) played all 60 minutes and made seven saves.
Hiram will host Allegheny (Pa.) College on Wednesday, Apr. 24 in a NCAC game at Charles A. Henry Field. It will be senior night with the game scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
