HIRAM, OHIO -- The Hiram College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Kenyon College, 18-1, in a non-conference game at Charles A. Henry Field.
In the first half, Kenyon (8-2, 4-1 NCAC) scored 15 goals in the first 30 minutes with its first score coming at the 29:46 minute mark. Hiram (3-9, 0-5 NCAC) had two shots in the period, but would put one of those shots past the Kenyon goalkeeper when freshman JoLyn Grover (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) scored her 10th goal of the season with an unassisted marker with 7:46 left before the break. The Ladies would still take a sizeable 15-1 advantage heading into the intermission.
All of the scoring in the second half was by Kenyon as the Ladies tacked on three more scores to seal an 18-1 victory.
In goal for Hiram, sophomore Jocelyn Schmidt (Kent/Roosevelt) got her first start of the season and played all 60 minutes recording nine saves.
Hiram will travel to Oberlin for a NCAC game against Oberlin College on Saturday, Apr. 20. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
