Sept. 25 - MEADVILLE, Pa. - Once again led by freshman Kathi Kline, the Hiram College women's golf team competed at the Guy & Jeanne Memorial Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College at the Meadville Country Club.
The two-day tournament, which was hosted over Sunday and Monday, saw 73 different athletes from 14 seperate Division II and III institutions compete in the 36 hole event.
Kline lead the way for Hiram, finishing tied for 44th in the tournament, posting a total score of 197. The two-day total was her lowest-career score, besting last week's performance by three strokes.
Kline opened the tournament with a 100 on the first day, entering day two in 48th place. On Monday, the first-year player dropped that score to a 97 (her lowest one-round score), moving up four places by the end of day two.
Freshman Tashauna Wright also played in her first-career tournament, finishing the two-day event with a 276.
Charlotte Simpson of Carnegie Mellon took home indiviual honors with a +3 (149). Division II Mercyhurst earned the team title with a two-day total of 642.
The Hiram women's golf team will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday, October 7 and 8 as they travel to Wooster, Ohio to compete in the Wooster Invitational.
