CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second time this season, Hiram College women's basketball center Mercedes Jones has been named Player of the Week by the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).
Jones posted double-double performances in both of the Terrier victories last week when Hiram faced conference rivals Wooster and Allegheny. Her best performance came on Saturday when Hiram conquered the Gators by a final score of 76-55. The center totaled team-highs in points (20) and rebounds (11). Jones also tacked on five steals, marking a new career-high.
Over the course of the week, Jones finished with a total of 36 points and averaged 18 points per game. She shot 16-26 (.640) from the field and recorded 21 rebounds. Jones also tallied eight steals (four per game).
Currently, Jones ranks second in the NCAC in scoring (296). She also sits fourth in field goal percentage (.512).
Jones and the rest of the Terrier squad will next travel to DePauw for a conference matchup on Friday, February 3. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
