CLEVELAND, Ohio – Center Mercedes Jones has been named by the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Player of the Week.
Jones led the Terriers to a 2-1 record last week when Hiram faced Muskingum and conference rivals DePauw (Ind.) and Wittenberg. Her top performance came last Tuesday when the Terriers defeated Muskingum 71-63. She tallied a team-high 25 points, with one of her shots coming from behind the arc. Jones also went 8-12 from the field and a made all eight of her free throws.
Over the course of the week, Jones tallied a total of 62 points and averaged 20.6 points per game. She shot 20-36 (.555) from the field and 20-24 (.833) from behind the charity stripe. Jones also recorded 20 rebounds (6.6 per game).
Currently, Jones ranks third in the conference in total points scored (103). She also ranks third in the conference in points per game (12.9).
Jones and the rest of the Terriers will be back in action on Wednesday evening when they face Wooster in a conference matchup at 6 p.m.
