MEADVILLE, Pa.- The Hiram College softball team claimed a 3-2 game one victory over Allegheny before dropping game two 10-4, Tuesday afternoon.
The opening inning was a silent one with neither side scoring a hit or a run.
The Terriers first run of the game was off a sacrifice fly from sophomore Mariah Sheffield to bring home sophomore Giselle Bahena.
In the third inning, freshman Kaitlyn Saffel tripled to right field to score freshman Isabelle Gonzales.
From there a sacrifice fly from freshman Leah Valdez would score Saffel to put Hiram ahead 3-0.
In the bottom of the sixth, the host would get on the board tacking on two runs to cut the Terriers lead to 3-2.
Neither side added a run in the seventh inning to cement Hiram's 3-2 victory.
In the circle, sophomore Bailey Scheck tallied a career-high nine strikeouts only allowing two hits in her seven innings of work.
In game two, the Terriers found themselves down by one run after the first inning.
Hiram would respond in the second with a single from Giselle Chavez to score Sheffield to tie the game.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Gators would tally three additional runs to stretch their lead to 4-1.
Allegheny's advantage would not last long with the Terriers tacking on three runs in the fifth (4-4). The scoring included runs from Gonzales, Valdez, and Saffel.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Gators added six runs to secure the 10-4 win.
The Terriers will return home on Thursday, April 11, as they host Baldwin Wallace. The doubleheader matchup is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. start.
