CLEVELAND, OHIO -- Hiram College sophomore softball player Jessica Bolanz (Randolph/Waterloo) has been named this week's North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
Hiram posted a 3-3 record this past week, including a two-game split against No. 6 nationally-ranked DePauw (Ind.) University on Saturday.
For the week, Bolanz was one of two Terriers to bat .500 at the plate. She started all six games and recorded nine hits in 18 at-bats. Bolanz also hit her first two homeruns of the season with one coming in the doubleheader against DePauw and another the very next day in a twinbill against Anderson (Ind.) University.
In addition to her two homeruns, Bolanz led the team in runs scored (six), triples (one) and was tied for first in runs batted in (seven) for the week. She also added one double offensively. Defensively, Bolanz posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, one of four players to do so, with eight putouts and 12 assists.
Hiram will travel to University Heights for a non-conference doubleheader against John Carroll University on Wednesday, Apr. 4. The first game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The Terriers will then host The College of Wooster on Friday (Apr. 6) in a NCAC doubleheader at Myrtis E. Herndon Field with gametime scheduled for 4 p.m.
