Oct. 24 - GAMBIER, Ohio - The Hiram College swimming & diving teams opened their new era under first-year head coach Austin Veltman at the Kenyon College relays on Saturday afternoon.
Throughout the night, team's at the Kenyon relays swim only in relay events, with no individual swims throughout the night.
Hiram competed in eight total events between the men's and women's teams.
On the men's side, Hiram's best finish came in the 200 butterfly relay, where the team of Darien Street, Dion Thornton, Reeve Bowling and Brady Gunther posted a 23rd-place finish with a time of 1:46.50.
Bowling, Street, Bentkowski and Gunther combined for a 1:44.30 in the 200 free relay; while Barber, Canevari, Bentkowski and Thornton finished 20th in the backstroke relay (2:11.24).
On the women's side, the Terriers swam in the 3x500 relay as the team of Kerrie Romagna, Nicki Prentler and Mallory Best finished 11th with a 20:42.06.
Best and Prentler then teamed with Canevari and Barber to compete in the mixed 200 medley relay. The team finished 12th with a 2:08.05.
Hiram will return to the pool for their first dual meet on Saturday, Oct. 21 as they travel to Alliance, Ohio to compete against The University of Mount Union. The meet is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
