Night of firsts leads to 3-0 shutout for Men's Soccer

HIRAM, Ohio - C.J. Keith (Burbank, Ohio/ Norwayne High School) started in goal for the first time as a Terrier on Tuesday night as Hiram defeated Penn St.- Beaver (Pa.) 3-0. The freshman finished with eight saves in the match.

The Terriers improve to a 4-4-2, 1-1 NCAC record, while the Nittany Lions fall to a 5-5, 4-1 PSUAC record on the season.

Hiram was first to score in the match. At the 15:34 mark, sophomore Taje Davis (Evanston, Ill./ Evanston Township), passed the ball to freshman Austin Blatt (Zanesville, Ohio/ John Glenn), who beat out Penn St. Beaver's keeper in a one-on-one battle to score the first goal of his collegiate career.

Less than six minutes later, junior Josh Lubich (Niles, Ohio/ John F. Kennedy) found the back of the net to quickly give the Terriers a 2-0 lead. Lubich's goal was his first of the season.

The final goal of the night came in the 51st minute when junior Luis Alarcon (Casselberry, Florida / Winter Park) scored his first career goal to secure the win for Hiram.

The Terriers outshot Penn St. – Beaver 27-11 and held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

Hiram will return to action on Saturday, October 8 when they host conference foe DePauw (Ind.) at noon.
