March 17- SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Hiram College men's lacrosse team dropped a 19-5 decision at Wittenberg in the North Coast Athletic Conference opening game, Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers are now 4-2 on the season and 0-1 in NCAC play, while the Tigers improve to 3-4, 1-0.
The Tigers scored seven times in the opening period and added seven more goals in the second to build a 14-1 halftime lead.
Senior Nick Rollason tallied the lone goal of the first half for Hiram at the 9:42 mark. Rollason led the offensive efforts scoring another goal in the last quarter, also adding an assist and four total shots.
Three Terriers scored in the second half of the game, including sophomore Hunter Jenkins off an assist by Evan Pinney in the third quarter. Sophomore Tim Stucky opened up the scoring efforts in the fourth with a goal. While, junior Justin Dionne and Rollason tallied back-to-back goals inside the remaining 10 minutes, but the Terriers were never able to bounce back cementing the Tigers' victory (19-5).
Hiram will be back in action Saturday, March 24, with a home contest versus Wooster. The matchup is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
