WEST POINT, GA. -- A late goal by sophomore Doug Legris (Fairfax, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) led the Hiram College men's lacrosse team to a thrilling 9-8 victory over Point (Ga.) on Saturday.
The Terriers improve to 1-2 on the season, while the Skyhawks fall to 2-5.
Legris found the back of the net with 3:40 remaining to give Hiram the lead. The Terriers defense dug in and did not allow Point to score, securing its first win of the season.
Rollason added two assists in the contest, while freshman Jonah Austin (Tecumseh, Mich.), Legris, Lekan and Pinney each dished out one.
Hiram trailed 5-2 after one quarter of play and cut the deficit to 6-5 at the break. Each team scored once in the thrid quarter, before the Terriers outscored Point 3-1 in the fourth quarter for the 9-8 win.
Hiram will now take some time off and will return to action on March 14, when it hosts Wittenberg in its NCAC and home opener at 2 p.m.
