CLEVELAND, OHIO -- Hiram College men's lacrosse player and sophomore goalkeeper Sawyer Lott (Sunbury/Big Walnut) has been named to the 2014 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Teams as a honorable mention pick. [2014 All-NCAC Teams]
"It's an honor to even be nominated for All-NCAC when it comes to men's lacrosse," said Lott. "I feel very blessed that i could win this. I wasn't expecting to even come close to this. I feel very thankful that my hard work paid off."
For the season, Lott played in all 13 games as the team's starting goalkeeper. He led the NCAC in saves with 191 and saves per game at 14.69. In addition, his saves per game average ranked seventh best in the nation amongst NCAA Division III schools. Lott ended the season with a .475 save percentage in just over 769 minutes played.
Having recently completed the program's second year of existence, Lott has played both seasons and has also played in every game (25). To date, Lott has made 318 saves (12.72 saves per game) and has a .469 career save percentage. He has played in just under 1,300 minutes between the pipes and has recorded three victories.
"Going into this season, Sawyer was our only goalie and we knew we would have to ride on his back the whole way, and we did," said second-year Head Coach Brian Jenkins. "It's a great honor for Sawyer to be listed with some of the best DIII players in the country, but he is well deserving of it."
"This year was a tough year with us but we at least got more wins than we did last," added Lott. "We are showing great signs of improvement even if our record doesn't show it. Next year we should be able to compete with all of our competition with the great talent that Coach Jenkins and Coach Witte are bringing in."
