Austin Jenkins leads Men's Golf at Purple Raider Invitational

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Sophomore Austin Jenkins (North Royalton, Ohio) finished in a tie for 22nd place to lead the Hiram College men's golf team at the Purple Raider Invitational.

The Terriers finished seventh of seven team with 639 strokes. Baldwin Wallace captured the team title with a score of 598.

Jenkins fired a opening round 78 and was tied for 28th. He followed that with a 76, moving up to 22nd, finishing with a 36-hole score of 154 on the par-72, 6,694 yard course.

Senior Danny Essel (Euclid, Ohio) finished in 26th by shooting a 155 and sophomore Kyle Carile (North Royalton, Ohio) fired a 164, whch tied him for 49th.

Baldwin Wallace's Scott Schroeder won Medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 172.

Hiram will compete again on Monday, by taking part in the Westminster (Pa.) Invitational.
