Jenkins leads Men's Golf at season opening Gatorade Collegiate

LAWRENCE, Ohio -- Sophomore Austin Jenkins (North Royalton) fired a seven over 151 to lead the Hiram College men's golf team at the season opening Gatorade Collegiate hosted by the College of Wooster.

The Terriers finished 11th of 11 teams with 646 (329-317) strokes.

Allegheny (Pa.) captured the tournament with a even par 576, Denison was second with a team score of 591 and Mount Union was third, shooting a 594.

Jenkins shot 77 on Saturday and followed it up with a 74 on the par-72, 6,730 yard course. His score tied him for 21st.

Sophomore Kyle Carile (North Royalton, Ohio) finished in 46th with a 82-76-158 and senior Danny Essel (Euclid, Ohio) was 60th with a 87-79-166.

Jimmy Lasher and Robby Pickett of Allegheny tied for Medalist honors with a four under par, 140.

The Terriers will be off next weekend before returning to action at the Heidelberg Invitational on September 19 and 20.
