Men’s Basketball Falls 85-79 in Comeback Bid Against OWU
Jan.26-DELAWARE, Ohio- Despite cutting a second half 19-point deficit down to three, the Terrier men's basketball team was unable to shake off a slow first half, falling to Ohio Wesleyan University, 85-79, on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers raced off to an early 6-3 lead, off threes from junior Sherman Dean III and sophomore Jalen Kirksey.

From there the host maintained the scoring momentum until a pair of free throws from freshman Brodgie Gordon knotted the ball game at 16-16 with 11:58 in the first.

In the remaining minutes, the Terriers would tie the game at 20-20 before the Battling Bishops used a 20-9 swing to tally their largest advantage of the half (40-29).

At the break, the host held a nine-point edge (40-31), but the Terriers forced six turnovers, adding 20 rebounds, and three steals.

Fresh out the halftime break the Bishops continued to dominate never trailing in the remaining minutes.

Ohio Wesleyan went on to stretch their lead to as many as 19 points (59-40) with 14:47 left in the game.

Hiram would make their big offensive run in the time left cutting the OWU advantage down to three (82-79).  However, three points from Ohio Wesleyan in the final seconds secured the win for the Battling Bishops.

Offensively, three Terriers scored in double figures. Hiram was led by Dean's 21 points and three rebounds. Gordon tallied 12 points, while sophomore Christian Crespo added 11 points.

Hiram will return home Friday, February 1 as they host the Tigers of DePauw. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
