HIRAM, Ohio – The Hiram College football team announced that senior Kyle Burchett will play in the Tropical Bowl on Sunday, January 15 in Daytona Beach, Florida.

"This is great honor for Kyle to represent Hiram, the NCAC and Division III football at such a bright stage," said head coach Henry Stanford.

The Tropical Bowl is a premier FBS Division I level College Football All-Star Game. The event showcases the top college football seniors to NFL scouts and GM's who come in from around the country.

In addition to being one of eight participants from a Division III football program, Burchett will be the only one that attends a D-III institution in Ohio. The remaining athletes hail from Division I, Division II and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) schools, such as The University of Akron and the University of Washington.

Burchett will also be the lone player representing the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC).

This will be the second all-star game in which Burchett will be a participant. The linebacker previously played in the National Bowl last December in Daytona Beach, where he garnered the Defensive MVP award for the National Team.

Burchett finished his senior season earning Second Team All-American honors by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). He was also tabbed an All-Conference selection by the NCAC and named a Preseason Second Team All-American by herosports.com.

In his final season as a Terrier, Burchett totaled 109 tackles (63 solo, 46 assists), ranking first on the team and second in the conference. He also ranked second on the team and fifth in the NCAC in tackles for loss (12.5).

"Kyle is an exceptional young man," commented Stanford. "He shows where hard work, discipline and dedication can take you. He continues to be a representation of what it means to be a Hiram man, both on and off the field. His eternal legacy and career are prime examples of the student-athlete we want on our team. "
