Howard Jenter enters his 26th season as Hiram College's head baseball coach in the spring of 2017. In addition to his coaching duties, Jenter also serves as the Coordinator of Event Management.
With a 5-4 victory over Kenyon on April 27, 2014, Jenter reached 300 victories at Hiram. He currently has currently amassed 320.
In his previous 25 seasons, Jenter has compiled over 300 wins and is the all-time winningest coach in program history. He has recorded four 20+ win seasons and 10 seasons of 15 or more victories. In 2000, Jenter's squad set a school record for victories in a single season with 27.
Jenter has coached three players- Jason Tangi, Kurt Kaufman, and Brian Frasco, all who have gone on to professional careers. He has also had several players selected to the All-Region team and numerous Terriers have earned all-conference honors during his tenure.
In addition, Jenter also coached Jaren Bell, who earned the Capital One Academic All-District for the first time in program history in 2015.
While a student-athlete at Hiram, Jenter earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference honors twice in baseball and once in football. He was also named baseball's Most Valuable Player and team captain. He lettered four times in baseball and three times in football. He was also the starting free safety of Hiram's 1982 PAC Championship football team.
Jenter is a 1985 graduate of Hiram and also holds a master's degree in sports administration from Kent State University.
Jenter and his wife, Mary, and two children, Brad and Beth, reside in Champion, Ohio.
