FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Hiram College baseball team completed their spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla. with a pair of losses to Lakeland University on Saturday afternoon.
Hiram dropped the first game, 15-2, before falling 7-2 in game two.
In the first game of the morning, the Muskies came out firing on all cylinders on offense. Lakeland tallied seven runs in the opening two frames, posting four in the first and three more in the second.
Overall, the Terrier pitching allowed just six earned runs in the 15 runs that were scored, as Hiram committed six errors.
Offensively, Hiram totaled four hits, getting doubles from Bailey and Suso and a triple from Carcioppolo. Alex Gould also added a hit.
In game two, Hiram was once again held to just a pair of runs, falling 7-2 in the game.
The Muskies once again got on the board first, tallying three in the opening frame. Following a double from senior Kyle Watson, he came into score on a Muskie error. Watson finished the game with a pair of hits.
Lakeland would tally the next four runs in the game, before Hiram posted a score in the top of the seventh to round out the scoring at 7-2.
The Terriers will be back in action on Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 17 as they are scheduled to play three at Muskingum University. Friday's game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
