Senior Marissa Jay helped lead the Hiram College volleyball team to a perfect 5-0 record in the final week of the regular season. The team captured wins over NCAC foe Allegheny College (3-0), before defeating Houghton College (3-0), Cortland State (3-1), Utica (3-0) and Marywood (3-0).
Through the week, Jay had arguably one of the best stretches of her four-year career, totaling 85 kills in five matches. The outside hitter finished the week with a .400 hitting percentage, which included a pair of 20+ kill performances. Her top game came against Cortland State when she posted 25 kills and just two errors in 46 attempts (.500).
Along with her kill totals, Jay played well defensively, adding four double-doubles in five chances. She averaged 16 kills and 11.5 digs per match.
With her kill totals from last week, Jay has now moved into fourth-place on the Hiram College single-season kills list, passing Lindsay Brewer’s 2014 total of 443 with 459.
