James Hudgins comes to the Terriers for his first year as assistant coach in 2017. He will serve the Hiram football team as the coach of the running backs.
Hudgins comes to Hiram after a one-year stint with the Lumberjacks of Dakota College at Bottineau. While with the Jacks, Hudgins coached the quarterbacks and running backs and helped the team to a .500 record and a berth in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference playoffs.
In addition to his day-to-day duties, Hudgins also helped with the game planning and scouting reports, as well as serving as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.
Prior to his time with Dakota College, Hudgins served two years as an assistant coach at Taylor Alderdice High School in Pittsburgh, Pa. In addition, he worked one season for his alma mater, Central State University.
Since 2014, Coach Hudgins has worked with the Evolve Pittsburgh National 7-on-7 Program, serving as head coach for players in 10th and 11th grades. Since 2014, he has helped the program put together three National qualifying teams.
James, a 2012 graduate of CSU in Wilberforce, Ohio, was a four-year member of the Marauder football team. A two-year starter at quarterback, he served as team captain during his senior season.
Hudgins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from CSU in 2013 before going on to obtain a Master's in sport administration from Concordia University of Texas in 2017.
